MO-USB is the shortest path between a computer and a meter. Plugged into a USB port it appears as a standard serial port (virtual COM); whatever reading software you use treats it like any COM port. It carries the IEC 62056-21 handshake, the 300-baud opening and the baud switch losslessly at the physical layer; DLMS/HDLC and MASS frames pass transparently. On the bench, in the lab or in the field with a laptop: plug in, pick the port, read.
